GENERAL

1. How do I get started?

It’s quick and as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Just go to our sign up page and fill in your details.
2. We'll email you a confirmation link to activate your account, then send you a login username and password.
3. You can then log in to the control panel, pay the £1.00 sign up fee and you’re ready to start.

2. Does SymetriQ provide an SLA?

Yes SymetriQ does provide an SLA. See the SLA page here for details.

3. Does SymetriQ run on a redundant network?

Yes. From the data centre racks all the way into the public internet, our network is fully redundant.

4. What maximum number of compute resources and storage can I request at once?

By default we limit users to 4 vCPU cores, 8GB of RAM and 100GB of storage space. This limit can be removed on request by contacting support.

5. Is my data located in a secure and well protected data centre?

Yes. Our data centre complies with the sought after ISO27001 (former ISO17799 or BS7799) and ISO9001 standards.

6. Is the SymetriQ infrastructure hosted with the UK/EU?

Yes. The SymetriQ data centre is located within the London area.

TECHNICAL

1. What RAM options do you offer?

You can configure servers with between 512MB and 8GB of RAM.

2. Can I configure multiple virtual CPUs?

Yes. You can set up servers with up to 4 virtual CPUs

3. Do you support cloning?

Yes. If you power off any machine, you can create a duplicate, simply by clicking on the ‘clone’ button in the Details menu.

4. Do I need to modify my application to run it in your cloud?

No. We support all common operating systems including Windows, common Linux distributions and OpenSolaris. You can also install virtual servers from your own ISO installer disk images. 

5. Is there an API to control and manage my services?

Yes. There is a API accessible over REST allowing control from all commonly used languages (e.g. PHP, Python, Java). 

6. Do you provide fast storage I/O?

Yes. Our primary storage is based around high performance Dell storage devices combined with the highly acclaimed GlusterFS filesystem. The connectivity between the physical servers and the storage is over extremely fast, low latency 10gb ethernet links.

7. How is my data protected?

We provide a number of protection layers for your data:

1. RAID protected storage hardware.
2. GlusterFS on our storage systems provides complete resilience in the event of hardware.

8. What happens to my data when I shutdown my server?

You data is persistent and is only ever deleted should you delete the server or the virtual data centre containing it.

BILLING

1. Can I use my own Windows licenses?

There are two options for dealing with Windows licenses:

1. You use our pre-configured Windows server images and we take care of licensing.
2. You can deploy Windows from your own ISO images using your own license keys.

2. Is there a signup fee?

We charge only £1 as a signup fee and then offer free use of the platform for 5 days. After that you will pay for your usage on a pay as you go basis.

3. How can I pay for the service?

You can pay credit into your account using all common credit and debit cards. For larger customers we will offer purchase order based invoicing.
